Protest promotes publicity

If you want to get your mug on TV, the easiest way is to “protest.”

The media may outnumber the protesters, but their presence with cameras grinding away is reason enough for publicity seekers to attend.

Neither the media nor the protesters seem to care about the damage they may be doing to public safety.

For example, a few people took advantage of the hysteria over the Derek Chauvin trial to protest at the county courthouse.

Liberal News4Jax headlined it thus: “Rally outside Duval County Courthouse calls for police accountability.”

That would be ridiculous, because there already is police accountability.

The reporter, to his credit, got it right in the story, saying they were seeking “greater accountability.”

A small liberal newspaper couldn’t even be that fair and objective. It went with “seeking accountability,” in an attempt to indicate there is none.

But neither of the suggestions by the anti-police group would provide more accountability.

They want bodycam video released sooner, which would serve only to heighten the usual hysteria when there is a shooting. Often, the families of criminals seek to profit from the deaths as the family of George Floyd did. Ginning up hate before the facts are known is good for a plaintiff’s case in a civil action.

The other suggestion was a police review board. Such boards usually are made up of unelected people who spend time and money reviewing what already has been reviewed several times. In the vast majority of cases, the facts force them to acknowledge the previous decisions were correct.

Other liberal media outlets often refer to a study done by an anti-police professor at Bowling Green University, who found few police officers are convicted of murder in police shootings.

The liberal spin is that this shows corruption. What it actually shows is that nearly all the shootings are justified and are brought about by the criminal’s own actions.

The local cases cited in the TV station’s story all were justified, as they admitted – although they had to put “justified” in quotation marks to cast doubt upon the finding.

In one case, the criminal shot himself! How is that police brutality? In another, the dead person had stabbed a police officer just before getting shot.

The local activity is part of a nationwide effort to further the leftist Democrat political agenda. The protesters oppose law and order and inject racial identity into matters that have nothing to do with race, which is a part of that same agenda.

It is bad for America, and it needs to stop.
