Local black American now writes for Eye on Jacksonville after stating he is no longer a Democrat.

(After receiving a copy of an email sent to the City Council and Mayor, Eye reached out to the writer, Sonny B, and spoke with him about it. We are pleased to announce Sonny B will be writing for Eye on Jacksonville when he feels led to do so and has something to say regarding his life as a black man in America and in Jacksonville. He, however, will not divulge who he is on our site out of concern for his family and his work. That is the world we live in today. We welcome Sonny B and look forward to his thoughts.)

————————

I am a proud Black American citizen of this Great Nation. I’m also a law abiding, tax paying citizen of our wonderful city. I have been following the coverage of the RNC ever since it was announced that the Convention was coming to Jacksonville. Therefore, I tuned into the online coverage of the City Council meeting this morning. I wanted to see the response of each member and the silence of each member (staying silent and neutral says a lot as well.)

I understand that the Convention has been cancelled and I would like to end with this message to everyone on the City Council, Mayor, and Sheriff. The two incidents I’m about to mention happens all across America toward Trump supporters. “Liberals say they want tolerance until you have a different opinion than them.” That’s a quote from Congresswoman Debbie Lesko of Arizona’s 8th Congressional District in response to a Bath and Body Works manager yelling F–K Donald Trump at a customer for wearing a pro-Trump face mask in the store.

Second incident: The Denver police department might tell you that they were not told to stand down by a Democratic mayor at a pro-police event a few days ago as Michelle Malkin was viciously attacked by Black Lives Matter/Antifa thugs, but they can’t deny the assault caught on video with NO response from the police department. I remind you, this was a pro-Police event. This is appalling and absurd. I must say if this is the cowardice, gutless, heartless attitude of the Denver police department, then I do agree with the BLM/Antifa democratic Thugs, they should defund and dismantle a department of spineless human beings.

This is why I am no longer a part of the Democratic party. Conservative, law abiding citizens are despised, ridiculed, assaulted, ostracized and made to apologize, but lawless renegades are given concessions and allowed to run the town granted by Democrats and excused and applauded by Fake News. This seems one-sided to me. I thought all Americans were protected under the Constitution of the First Amendment? No, you are only protected if you agree with the far-left Liberal agenda.

There were 79 Black Pastors who signed a petition under the guise of safety. Why no concern for the safety of the city during the protest that almost progressed into a riot, but didn’t because of the leadership of the mayor and the sheriff’s office. I wonder if the tables were turned and the DNC convention was coming to Jacksonville; would there have been a negative reaction from: Ju-Coby Pittman, Garrett L. Dennis, Brenda Priestly Jackson, Joyce Morgan, Randy Defoor, Ronald B. Salem and Tommy Hazouri.

Back to the 79 Black Pastors; there are many problems in the Black community, mostly self-inflicted that has plagued the Black community for decades. Yet, a signed petition to halt the RNC from coming to Jacksonville was a top priority. I can see why the Black community never gets any better. On November 3rdPresident Donald Trump will maintain his Presidency, and that’s what you’re really afraid of. I am of the silent majority, but silent no more.

May God Bless America.
