North Florida learned today that one of our own, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, has been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer.
President Donald Trump shared the news Monday, expressing strong support for his longtime advisor and friend as she begins treatment. The cancer was caught early, and Wiles plans to continue working while undergoing treatment.
For many across North Florida, this news feels personal.
Susie Wiles is not just a national political figure. She is a homegrown leader with deep roots in Jacksonville and throughout Florida politics. Long before she was serving in the White House, she was helping shape campaigns and policy across our state. Over the past several years, Americans have watched her standing side-by-side with President Trump during historic moments — traveling the world, advising the President, and helping guide one of the most consequential administrations in modern history.
Now, the President is standing with her.
Those who know Susie know she is tough, disciplined, and fiercely committed to the work she believes in. That same strength will carry her through this challenge.
Here in North Florida, we are praying for Susie. We pray her treatments go well, that her recovery is swift, and that her strength continues to shine through.
She has made our region proud throughout her remarkable career — and especially through her service to President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
Like President Trump, North Florida stands with Susie. And we look forward to seeing her back at full strength very soon because we love her grit and grace!
