June 14th No Kings Protestors:  Don’t become a Crash Dummy

On June 14, “No Kings” protests are planned throughout the United States by an obscure organization — nokings.org. These protests are taking place June 14th and it appears street demonstrations will occur.

In Florida, if participants stand or block traffic, they could face risks under the 2021 “anti-riot” bill (HB1).  The bill shields drivers who feel threatened by protestors who stand in their way or surround their vehicle.  The driver will be given civil immunity protections if they unintentionally hit protesters blocking the road.

Governor DeSantis recently reaffirmed this: if someone surrounds your vehicle or impedes your path, you can lawfully flee—even to the point of striking someone obstructing you.

No Kings Protestors have a Constitutional Right to Protest.  What they don’t have is a right to threaten people, burn buildings, throw bricks, destroy businesses, and blow up cities.

Keep it Constitutional and all will be fine.

If not – protestors may add “Crash Dummy” to their resume.
