Finally we can put pride in being an American back on display!
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) announced that state bridges, including Jacksonville’s Acosta Bridge, will display red, white, and blue lights for the entire summer, replacing previous color schemes for Pride Month and other events.
This move has certainly sparked controversy, with some viewing it as an attack on the LGBTQ+ community and a disregard for holidays like Juneteenth.
FDOT supports the patriotic display as part of “Freedom Summer,” celebrating American liberties … an initiative of Governor DeSantis to help families appreciate the freedoms we are given as American citizens.
We support the FDOT for aligning with our Governor’s plan to show support for the Red, White and Blue!
Show your pride, friends. Let’s light up the Florida landscape with the colors of freedom.
