Terrie Brady is a smart gal, with a smart lawyer.
She paid back the money she stole from Duval Teachers United, before her sentencing.
Brady was president of Duval Teachers United. She and the executive vice president were indicted and later pleaded guilty to fraud, wire fraud, mail fraud, and money laundering for scheming to steal union funds over several years.
Brady, 70, could get 70 years in the hoosegow but probably won’t and the restitution may keep it down to a couple of years.
But it is a hard fall for the former head of the Democrat Party in Florida, and it brings up memories of another fall from grace.
Pat Tornillo, a Democrat and longtime head of the teachers’ union in Dade County was brought down in 2003 after he looted the union coffers for years.
Fun fact: Wikipedia does not contain articles on either Brady or Tornillo. I would write them but I’m certain the liberal editors would spike them.
Other notable cases:
Barbara A. Bullock, former president of the Washington Teachers’ Union, was convicted and sentenced for embezzling union funds in a high-profile federal case in the early 2000s.
From credible sources tracking union corruption and federal cases: At least 4-6 teachers’ union leaders or top local officers (including presidents and executive officers of local teachers’ unions) are known to have been charged or convicted of crimes directly connected with their union roles in the past 25 years. (AFT Facts)
Democrats are not but should be outraged by these crooks, because teacher unions are the main financing arm of the Democrat Party — and the party will need every dollar it can beg, borrow or steal if it wants to regain political power after being crushed twice by Donald Trump and truth.
