Biden DOE attacks gun safety protocols and archery classes

Once again the Biden Administration is using a sneaky assault on our Second Amendment rights. Thankfully a group of 66 House Republicans, led by GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik, are fighting back against the Department of Education’s outrageous move to block federal funding for school archery and hunter education courses taught nationwide.

Why would the Department of Education meddle in matters of outdoor education?

According to the Education Department’s recent guidance, they’re interpreting the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act of 2022 to mean that these programs can no longer receive taxpayer funds. Why? Well, they claim that archery, hunter education, and wilderness safety courses utilize weapons that are “technically dangerous weapons” and, therefore, cannot be funded under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.

Hold on a minute Biden’s DOE!! Scholastic programs have enjoyed bipartisan support for years, and they have near unblemished safety records. Millions of kids have learned safe and responsible firearm handling and storage through these programs, and they provide valuable opportunities for American children to learn about the outdoors and develop essential skills.

Yet, the Biden Administration, in its radical anti-gun crusade, is willing to trample over these important programs without any regard for congressional intent or the constitutional rights of responsible hunters and gun owners. It’s a brazen abuse of executive power, and it’s leaving American students deprived of the chance to exercise their Second Amendment right responsibly.

The sponsors of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act are now speaking out, saying that the Education Department is misinterpreting their legislation. They want the funding to be reinstated for these programs, recognizing the value they bring to our communities and the positive impact they have on young individuals.

But, of course, this is just one piece of a much larger puzzle. The Biden Administration has weaponized the Department of Education to advance its liberal agenda at every turn. From pushing critical race theory in schools to now targeting outdoor education, there seems to be no end to their overreach.

The Democrats like to paint themselves as champions of education, but their actions tell a different story. They are more interested in indoctrinating our children with divisive ideologies than ensuring they have access to well-rounded, valuable educational experiences.

It’s clear that we need to stand with these 66 House Republicans and demand that the Department of Education reverse its harmful guidance. We must protect our outdoor education programs, the Second Amendment, and the rights of American students to learn valuable skills and safety lessons.
