Bears, Ride Closures and Memes, Oh My!

Things were beary chaotic at Disney’s Magic Kingdom after a black bear was spotted looking for a few bear necessities behind Frontierland.

On Monday, Disney closed half of the Magic Kingdom (MK), when a cast member spotted a bear during a routine morning check before the parks open. The original scuttlebutt was the bear was found sleeping in one of the tunnels for guests on Tom Sawyer Island. But, the female black bear was really found in a tree behind the guest area of the island.

Guests were allowed into the park but were met with entire sections of the park being roped off.

For a few hours, 10 attractions in Frontierland, Adventureland, Fantasyland and Liberty Square were closed while Florida Fish and Wildlife captured the animal.

The female bear was relocated to the Ocala National Forest.

WESH 2 News an NBC affiliate in Orlando was able to get some great footage from their chopper of FFW safely capturing the curious girl.

Some new outlets report she was captured behind It’s a Small World, however I cannot tell from the footage the exact place the bear went down. However, if she really made her way all the way to the Backside of Water… Sorry, I couldn’t help myself… Ill start over. If she really made it to the backside of ‘Small World’, that is way too close for comfort for this Disney Parks devotee.

I tried to get clarification from a cast member, but all they could tell me is “we do not have any more information as this time.”

Now, I think this a punny story ripe for jokes, memes and hilarious photoshops. However, this morning the Today Show missed a great opportunity to have a lighthearted funny kicker story. Instead, they went dark and at 7:30 in the morning, chose to focus on the alligator tragedy several years ago. Do better Today Show Producers.

There are several Disney Passholder pages on Facebook. The pages are a great way to connect with Parks fans and get tips and advice. In my experience, Disney people definitely do not have my sick since of humor, or really any sense of humor at all. Maybe I would do well with the Universal crowd…

However, when something crazy happens at the parks, Passholders memes and photoshops do not disappoint. There have been several hilarious moments over the years Passholders grab onto to poke fun with witty memes and fantastic photo edits. These photoshop photos will be beary tough to beat.

I hope you enjoy some of my favorites via Facebook. Have a Magical Day!
