Annual Pearl Harbor Remembrance – Honoring World War II Veterans

This includes a free luncheon and admission for Military, Veterans, and Gold Star Families who make reservations in advance.

One of the highlights of the event is the benefit it provides to the Atlantic Coast Young Marines’ trip to Pearl Harbor. Donors who contribute $100 or more will be recognized in the program, showing their support for the younger generation’s education about World War II history. By supporting initiatives like these, we ensure that the lessons of the past are passed down to future generations, fostering a sense of appreciation for the sacrifices made by our veterans and creating a love for patriotism once again in our nation.

This year, the event is honored to feature two esteemed figures from Jacksonville’s history. Keynote Speaker Dr. Wesley Moody, a distinguished professor of history at Florida State College, brings his extensive knowledge of American Military History to the stage. With a Ph.D. from Georgia State University and the author of four books on American Military History, Dr. Moody is a respected authority on the subject.

Guest of Honor John Connelly, a World War II Air Corps veteran, has an incredible story to share. Inducted into the Air Corps at the young age of 18, he served aboard a B-24 Liberator Bomber and was taken as a Prisoner of War in Germany after his plane was hit on its 8th mission. John’s experiences serve as a living testament to the sacrifices made during this historic conflict.

The event also provides an opportunity for the community to connect with veterans from various eras, including World War II, Purple Heart recipients, Korean War veterans, Vietnam War veterans, and more. It’s a chance to recognize unsung heroes and acknowledge the contributions of those who have served in the armed forces.

To further support the event and its initiatives, attendees can reserve dining tables in honor of their own heroes or loved ones who have served. These tables can be adorned with photos and memorabilia, creating a touching tribute to the individuals being honored. It’s a way for families, groups, and organizations to pay their respects and share their stories.

To ensure your spot, it’s recommended you make reservations in advance. Military personnel, veterans, and Gold Star Immediate Family Members can attend for free with reservations. Early bird tickets are available for $10 per person, and you can also reserve an Honorary Table for 8 for $100, which includes a table placard to honor your hero and space for their memorabilia.
