What the hell: Local Republican leaders trashing Mayor Deegan’s Republican appointees

I am a Republican and today I announce my displeasure and disdain over the party I have worked hard to support.

I woke up to the mess in our country in 2007 when Republican President Bush bailed out the banks and not We the People during the economic crisis we were facing. I co-founded the First Coast Tea Party. We quickly became the largest tea party group in the country. Our strategy was to take our movement into the Republican Party and try to change their leadership back to one for the People instead of one for the Political Power brokers.

It was hard work and many of us were blow torched by the Republican leaders locally and nationally. Name-calling became a daily mantra in the media. The media took their talking points from the power brokers in both parties to smear our good works and heartfelt concerns for our country. We were called radicals, racists, and rebels.

That movement began 16 years ago and although some believe the movement is dead – they are very wrong. We are still here and a larger awakening took place when President Trump rose up and took the tea party movement to a higher level with his MAGA theme. MAGA stands for Make America Great Again and somehow that theme has not been accepted by either the Dems or the Republicans. It’s too radical for them.

They do not want to Make America Great Again because they will lose the power they have personally benefited from. And their strategy is the same as it was during the tea party movement. Call MAGA people radicals, racists, and rebels. Smear them. Lie about them. Throw them in jail. Shut them up. Do whatever it takes to keep control.

But don’t believe for a moment power brokers are only in DC. They are very much a major influence in Jacksonville too. You may not see them but they are there behind the scenes pulling strings, creating fear and calling all the shots.

Smear campaigns against the Mayor’s Republican appointees are one of those power broker schemes. Yes you read that right. Democrat Mayor Deegan has appointed Republicans to her administration and Republicans are fighting against their own party members!

Ask yourself: “Why wouldn’t the Republican leaders want Republicans serving in this administration? Wouldn’t you think it would be good to have Republican voices in the ear of our Mayor?”

Maybe it is because these Republicans Mayor Deegan has appointed are not “the right Republicans” so therefore they must be shut down! They must be smeared.

I could go on and on about this issue with Republicans bad-mouthing those who do not go along party lines because it is the reason I woke up in 2007 and activated my citizenship.

But instead, I think you will find a major ah-ha moment yourself by watching this press conference with Mayor Deegan standing up for Republican Randy DeFoor who she has tapped as General Counsel.

Democrat Mayor Deegan made me proud. Republican Randy DeFoor did too. These two women have put love for our city over love for political power. Both are fighting another smear campaign that is the worst of all I have seen. I’ll give you a hint: Ms. DeFoor was Baker Acted and disbarred. Both are outright lies!

Imagine the desperation of the Republican political power brokers who would slander a well-qualified Republican with excellent credentials to lead such an important office for the city.

It’s nasty. It’s horrible. It’s the worst of the worst. And as a Republican – I am ashamed of the leadership and will never support their efforts again.

Instead my support will go to individual candidates who want what is best for our city, our state and our nation and it doesn’t matter what party they belong to. Neither party represents any of us so who the hell cares anymore what letter you have on your voter card?

I also humbly ask big donors to do the same. Their hard-earned money is being used against our very own and political consultants and party leaders are using it to divide our city. It’s time to dry up their wells because money and power is all they seem to care about.

Ms. DeFoor used this story in her statement at the press conference. It’s a perfect example of what we are fighting for – Truth in our nation and in Jacksonville!

During a campaign stop in Bremerton, Washington, Truman delivered a rousing speech attacking the Republicans. One of Truman’s supporters called out, “give ’em hell Harry!” Truman replied, “I don’t give them hell. I just tell the truth about them, and they think it’s hell.”
