Heritage Action is one of those organizations and they recently launched a new portal that allows the public to submit comments regarding the Biden administration’s latest regulation that directly affects women’s sports. The new rule requires schools to allow males who self-identify as female to compete, which puts young female athletes at risk of physical harm and jeopardizes their equal educational opportunity.
The deadline for submitting comments is May 15, 2023, and this is an opportunity for the public to make their voices heard. Personalized comments with unique viewpoints and stories are most impactful, as they require an individualized response from the Biden administration.
The proposed regulation creates a false standard that puts young female athletes on the defensive, making them justify the existence of their own sports and places. It creates a bureaucratic paperwork mountain for each and every school to demonstrate the risk of “sports related injury” to females in order to prevent the participation of males. This regulation tips the scales in favor of male athletes who identify as women, disfavoring the girls and women for whom Title IX was enacted.
The cost of this regulation is substantial for schools, and it threatens to destroy fairness, erase spaces, and eliminate opportunities for women. Therefore, it is crucial for the public to submit comments on this proposed rule by May 15, 2023, to prevent the Biden administration from implementing this damaging regulation.
