I helped launch the real Tea Party movement back when it stood for lower taxes, limited government, and actual constitutional principles. So imagine my surprise when Vox tried to rebrand a group of far-left Democrats as the second coming of the Tea Party. Had to check twice to make sure it wasn’t The Onion.
Apparently, today’s progressives are now “disruptors” because they’re using Tea Party-style tactics—organizing at the grassroots, challenging their own party’s leadership, and pushing extreme ideas with no room for compromise. Of course, when we did it, the media called us “radicals” and “racists.” Now? It’s bold. It’s brave. It’s “a movement.”
It’s also a masterclass in media spin.
Same strategy, different ideology—and suddenly it’s heroic.

Funny how the Tea Party only became cool once it started leaning left.
