Sending a Heavenly Wink: A Prayer for Students as School Begins

Schools starts soon and Eye wanted to send all the children a big Wink as they begin a new school year.

Some will be heading back to their old school and some will be moving to a new middle or high school experience. It’s scary and we remember those days well.

We wanted to share this prayer with our readers to pray over their children or grand children. May God protect all our precious children in school year 2023-2024 and we wish them God’s blessings in all they do. Here’s our prayer:

Loving Heavenly Father, as children venture back to school, we lift them up to You. Your Word reminds us in Proverbs 2:6, “For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Grant these young minds wisdom and understanding as they learn and grow.

In Psalm 119:105, we read, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” May Your Word guide their steps and light their way throughout their educational journey.

Lord, in Jeremiah 29:11, You promise, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” We ask for Your guidance and assurance, that each child may walk confidently in the path You have set before them.

We also pray for them to be good friends and find good friends. Proverbs 18:24 reminds us that “A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Bless them with the wisdom to choose friends who uplift and inspire them, and to be friends who spread kindness and support.

Lastly, we pray for safety and protection, recalling Psalm 91:11, “For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.” Surround them with Your angels, guarding their steps, thoughts, and hearts.

In the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
