Seeking solutions to a government-caused problem

One of the biggest big government scams in existence is the electric vehicle.

People don’t want it. If they did, they would be buying it voluntarily. But liberals want it, to “save the planet,” so they are forcing it on the public.

They do this by subsidies, which mostly go to the wealthy because the gadgets are costly even when subsidized.

Another subsidy has been the fact that electric car owners dodge the gasoline fuel tax that helps pay for Florida’s roads.

In this year’s session of the Florida Legislature, legislators have tried to address that problem.

Last week the Florida Senate passed a bill that would impose a registration fee on electric vehicles. It would be in addition to the current registration fee. It passed unanimously.

Some fear the new fee would not be fair because it does not account for miles driven as the fuel tax does, but no one has come up with a better idea.

Also, no one has yet figured out how to produce all the electricity that would be needed if electric vehicles did manage to become popular. They make up less than 5 percent of the market now, even with the hype and heavy-handed government push.

Liberals still imagine that the sun and wind can produce all that electricity but most people are highly skeptical that will occur.

Clearly what would help save the planet is to clean out the federal government and replace it with people who indulge more often in common sense and capitalism.
