Pro-American voters are increasing in Florida

Good news for the Sunshine State. The steady erosion of support for the Democrat Party continues.

Republicans hold the lead in voter registration statewide, but there have been pockets of Democrat support, primarily in areas where academia dominates,

Eye on Jacksonville has reported how Republicans are taking over Duval County rapidly. But the trend also is seen in places like Hillsborough and Madison counties.

Even that bastion of liberalism Dade County now has only a 5 percent Democrat advantage.

For most of the 20th century the Democrat Party controlled the state, gerrymandering it carefully to consolidate its power. Democrat primary victories commonly were referred to in the press as being “tantamount” to victory in the general election as Republicans fielded few candidates.

That changed around the turn of the century. Since then, affiliation with both major parties has dwindled as people were turned off by what they see as the “Uniparty” but the GOP has fared better than Democrats, who have drifted leftward steadily.

One striking thing about the change in voter sentiment is how it compares to the Florida media, which is almost universally diametrically opposed to readers and viewers in political mindset.

Still, clueless newspaper editors wonder why they are losing subscribers.

When you don’t like your readers, why would they like you?
