Well… we read the latest press release from Elder Affairs, and let’s just say this:
It was pretty — but pretty empty.
Fluffy words everywhere.
Marketing magic at its finest.
Lots of “dignity, confidence, and independence”…
and not a shred of acknowledgment about what’s actually happening to Florida’s seniors.
Here’s the truth — plain and simple:
Florida’s Department of Elder Affairs has not kept seniors safe.
They have not protected their homes, their freedoms, or their life savings.
They have allowed a corrupt guardianship system to roll on like a money machine — one that steals assets, isolates seniors from their families, and shuffles them into facilities where emotional abuse is the norm, not the exception.
And the Department knows this.
They’ve been told.
They’ve been shown.
They’ve seen the reports.
Yet here we are, reading another glossy press release telling us how wonderful they’re doing.
I’m sorry — no.
We’re not buying that.
At Eye on Jacksonville, we will keep calling this out until someone in Tallahassee grows a backbone — whether it’s in the Governor’s office, Elder Affairs, the Legislature, or the Florida Department of Law Enforcement — and shuts down the predatory guardianship practices that have gone unchecked for years.
Because until there is real accountability, these warm-and-fuzzy promises about seniors “aging well at home” are nothing but words.
Empty words.
And seniors in Florida deserve better than empty words — they deserve protection, respect, and the right to live out their lives without the government-sanctioned vultures circling their front door. And for those who know they are guilty of hurting families and seniors – we will not stop writing and putting pressure on those who can do something until you are exposed for the injustice you have served on the sweet elders of our State.
