Being positive in Jacksonville

New4Jax deserves a Wink for its feature Random Jax of Kindness.

Despite the name, which is either a clever pun or a lame play on the words “acts of kindness,” depending on your point of view, it is a good way to take note of some good things happening in the city amid all the gloom and doom we are saturated with by the media.

One of the acts it celebrated was the donation by Winn-Dixie of 500 bags of groceries to employees at two local hospitals. The grocery chain also gave free bagels and cream cheese to local schools fire station, police station and other organizations.

Another was recognition of children at Ortega Hills Preschool, who on their own volition came up with a plan to pick up litter in a local park.

The feature is part of the station’s Positively Jax effort to recognize good deeds and there is a Web site to participate, Positivelyjax.com.
