Spencer Calvert, the builder wanted for allegedly defrauding Nocatee property owners out of millions of dollars, has been arrested in Duval County.
Calvert, 51, is the former head of the Pineapple Corp.
He was arrested Thursday on a felony warrant from St. Johns County. Bond was set at $300,000.
Eight or more victims have said they were fleeced by Calvert. They said he took their money but never completed building homes for them.
In 2021, Calvert was quoted in local media as saying his business was flourishing, but apparently the good days did not continue.
Soon after that, Pineapple quit the local builders association.
Also, the Jax Daily Record has reported that the Pineapple Corp. was sued 18 times in St. Johns County since October by homebuyers who said Pineapple took their money but did not deliver finished homes and by subcontractors who claim they were not paid for materials and work they did for Pineapple.
Victims also have reportedly hired a local lawyer to pursue civil cases.
Among the victims was Capt. Sandy Yawn, star of the TV reality show Below Deck. She said she paid Calvert more than $1 million and was left with a half-built home.
