The Downtown Investment Agency could learn a lot from a deal that just happened with abandoned property in the Baymeadows area of Jacksonville.
It is exciting to see that a developer has gone through the long suffering process of being a developer in Jacksonville. Joyce Development Group LLC of Jacksonville and property owner D. R. Horton have plans to reform 5.8 acres near I95 into a 35,000 square foot retail project and a 100-room hotel.
According to City Council Member in that district, Danny Becton, this project will be funded by the developer and will not require taxpayer funding.
Applaud. Applaud. Applaud.
Just goes to show you that it doesn’t take taxpayer dollars to fund a private development.
