Every day it seems as if the United States is moving closer to the dystopian political world described in George Orwell’s classic book “1984.”
Three phrases, according to Orwell, were drilled into the minds of Oceania’s citizens:
“War is Peace.”
“Freedom is Slavery.”
“Ignorance is Strength.”
The current government of the United States seems dedicated to each of those propositions and to adding a fourth:
“He is she.”
In the woke world of make believe a person can imagine that he or she is the opposite sex. No one objects to that.
What sane people object to is being required to participate in that person’s fantasy by referring to them with an incorrect pronoun.
Because children are malleable, the Far Left concentrates on them, dulling their sense of reality by forcing them to call boys girls and vice versa. It is a form of child abuse.
But in the Free State of Florida, the Republican government is bucking the woke theories promulgated by the Biden administration and the Education Blob.
A bill in the legislature sponsored by a Jacksonville legislator would change the rules around the use of preferred pronouns at Florida’s government schools. Republican Sen. Clay Yarborough’s bill (SB 1320) would also ban classroom instruction related to sexual orientation or gender identity until the ninth grade. It advanced at its first committee stop along party lines: Republicans voted for freedom and Democrats voted for slavery.
“I know that childhood is as special as it is short,” Yarborough was quoted as saying. “We need to let kids be kids and our laws need to set appropriate boundaries that respect the rights and responsibilities of parents.”
The bill follows on the heels of last year’s Parental Rights in Education Act, which prohibits instruction on sexual orientation or gender identity specifically for students in kindergarten through third grade, and at other grades where it is not “age-appropriate.”
The new measure, called the “Child Protection in Public Schools” bill, expands the prohibition of discussion of sexual orientation or gender orientation through eighth grade and further regulates classroom materials deemed objectionable.
“Parents of elementary and middle school students should decide what is appropriate related to these topics,” Yarborough said. “Parents should be the ones in the driver’s seat.”
Science says that a person’s sex as an unchanging biological trait defined by the specific reproductive role, sex chromosomes, naturally occurring hormones and genitalia at birth.
The bill says that students will be taught that biological males impregnate biological females by fertilizing the female’s egg with the male’s sperm, and “these roles are binary, stable and unchangeable.”
Parts of the bill that enrage liberals include:
When instruction in acquired immune deficiency syndrome, sexually transmitted diseases, or health education contains instruction in human sexuality, a school must:
· Teach abstinence from sexual activity outside of marriage as the expected standard for all school-age students while teaching the benefits of monogamous heterosexual marriage.
· Emphasize that abstinence from sexual activity is a certain way to avoid out-of-wedlock pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, including acquired immune deficiency syndrome, and other associated health problems.
· Teach that each student has the power to control personal behavior and encourage students to base actions on reasoning, self-esteem, and respect for others.
As for pronouns, employees and contractors would be blocked from offering their preferred pronouns to students, unless those pronouns “correspond to his or her sex.”
Students still would be able to offer their preferred pronouns. But the bill prohibits school personnel from asking about preferred pronouns in advance. Employees, contractors and students are not required to “refer to another person using a preferred personal title or pronoun that does not correspond to that person’s sex” as part of “a condition of employment, enrollment, or participation in any program.”
While students could still request their preferred pronouns be used, those requests can be ignored.
Those on the radical left have been upset about pornography being removed from the schools, which they refer to as “book banning.”
But nothing prohibits liberal parents from buying pornography and giving it to their children to read.
It is the same with speech. Edicts that require people to utter nonsense are nonsensical and should not be tolerated in a free society.
One response to “They/them cannot be allowed to create a fascist state”
Outstanding article of Clay Yarborough’s bill that I pray becomes law. XX and XY are embedded in the DNA of every cell. Biological truth, self control, and parental rights must prevail in a free society.
