The Death of Charlie Kirk: A Turning Point in America

When I was a little girl in third grade, I sat in front of the television and watched President John F. Kennedy shot before the eyes of a grieving nation. Not long after, I saw Robert Kennedy’s assassination play out on TV, and then the tragic murder of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Those moments shaped my life and they shaped the next generation of America.

Their assassinations taught me at an early age that truth-tellers often pay the highest price.

Yesterday, we witnessed it again. A man who stood boldly for a renewed American culture focused on the family unit, protecting babies instead of abortion, for Jesus’ love instead of hate, and for open dialogue instead of cancel culture — Charlie Kirk—was murdered. Millions across the world on social media witnessed the death of another good man and I did too.

I was reminded of the scripture – “There is nothing new under the sun” and the scenes from my childhood of JFK, RFK, and MLK are now replaced with CK’s death as he paid the price for speaking truth.

Speaking truth is the common denominator in all their deaths.

_______________

When I was in high school, I joined the debate team because it was cool to be in that environment and I liked arguing my point. It was also mandated we had to take a class called Americanism vs. Communism, where we openly argued the pros and cons of both systems. Debate was healthy, expected, and necessary. It prepared us for the world.

But not today. Debate in today’s culture doesn’t sharpen ideas—it gets you labeled a racist, a bigot, or worse. That’s cancel culture in action. It’s meant to intimidate and shut down any opposition.

I believe this nation’s next generation has been living under oppression since the COVID shutdown. Their youth was stolen from them. They’ve been taught to believe that anyone who supports Trump is a hater, that Christians are bigots, and that faith has no place in the public square. They are drowning in TikToks filled with hate and spending endless hours on their phones instead of building relationships, connecting with nature, and seeking to find their place and purpose in this world.

Charlie Kirk was breaking through that noise on social media. On campuses across America and around the world, he was reaching young people, offering them something different: hope for their futures, making debate cool again, speaking truth to a world filled with lies, and planting seeds of courage in them to think for themselves.

And for that, they silenced him—just as “they” silenced JFK, RFK, and MLK.

Yet, as history has shown, truth cannot be silenced forever. It always wins in the end.

Charlie Kirk lived by the motto, “Prove me wrong.” He welcomed disagreement. He listened. Sometimes, he even changed his mind. But he was always respectful, always kind. And above all, he was a Christian and he used his platform to speak the words of Jesus into those who came to listen to him. He knew how important it was to put Jesus first in his work and his personal life.

Not long ago, he posted on X: “It’s all about Jesus.”

He was right.

THE QUESTION WE ARE ASKING TODAY: Where do we go from here?

As Christians, we must be willing to do what Charlie did: speak truth boldly, even when the world doesn’t want to hear it. We must be courageous enough to stand up to the evil of this world when it manifests in our nation, our community and our homes. And yes, we must be prepared to pay the ultimate price with our life if called to do so. Isn’t that what Jesus told us we must do if we follow Him?

Are you ready for that kind of Christian life starting today? Are you ready to be passionate about Jesus and defend His teachings?

I am.

My courage got stronger yesterday because once again I watched another truth-telling good man take a bullet for Jesus.

Until Jesus returns, the fight continues and we are called to put on the full armor of God and get about the business of reaching souls for Christ. Prove me wrong!

We know Charlie is now enjoying the fruits of his labor as he now spends eternity in heaven with our Father God. And we pray, that God will give peace and shelter to Erika and Charlie’s children as God did with JFK’s, RFK’s, and MLK’s family left behind to live their earthly life without their earthly fathers.

Yes Charlie – It’s all about Jesus! Thank you for your sacrifice — we will carry on your mission!
