Teacher union bosses are fighting back – against parents

Powerful teachers unions, major financiers of the Democrat Party, are drawing battle lines – with parents on the other side.

The National Education Association, the nation’s largest teachers union, considered a proposal to change “mother” to “birthing parent,” “father” to “non-birthing parent,” and “maternity leave” to “parental leave” in the name of inclusion but it didn’t get to a vote this week at the annual meeting.

However, several other radical measures easily passed, including items on abortion, queer issues and countering parental rights groups. The approved items included a proposal to spend $140,625 to create an “enemies list” of 25 organizations the union says are seeking to “dismantle public education.” Most of them appear to be those seeking to protect parental rights and prevent grooming and indoctrination of children.

In addition, the uber-liberal organization by a 74% majority approved taking a public stand “in defense of abortion and reproductive rights” and “encourage members to participate in activities including rallies and demonstrations,” Education Week reported.

Jeralee Smith, a retired union member, told Fox News Digital that the union is incapable of tolerating differing viewpoints. “They’re not just trying to change culture, they’re trying to change what it means to be human,” Smith said. “They have no ability to tolerate somebody who doesn’t agree with them.

Also winning easy passage at the NEA meeting was a $56,000 proposal to “take all necessary steps” to overturn Florida’s Parental Rights Law, which prohibits classroom instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity in grades K-3.

The Duval County School Board has refused to vote on a proposal to support that law.

Board Member Elizabeth Andersen voted to sideline the resolution by Board Member Charlotte Joyce to support the law. Andersen’s opponent in the upcoming election, April Carney, fully supports the law. Andersen’s campaign is heavily bankrolled by teacher unions.

Until recently, it was the board’s codified policy to keep secret from parents a child’s intent to “change gender.”

Another development in Northeast Florida this week was the admission by the attorney for the Clay County School Board that pornography is available to students in the government schools and is so filthy a parent was prohibited from reading it in a public meeting.

Ironically, the Duval school district is asking voters to agree to pay higher taxes for increased school spending at the same time these issues are causing great concern among voters.

If apple pie and motherhood are the epitome of being American, what nationality are people who are against motherhood?
