Running afoul of political correctness can be hazardous to your career

Last year, a teacher in the public schools angered the PC Police and was brought to heel. But his troubles aren’t over yet.

The teacher told a boy student last August that he would not call him “her,” although the teacher said he would use the new name the student made up.

Liberals began calling for the teacher’s head.

Eventually, the teacher capitulated and said he would comply with the school system’s policy, which is to go along with students who pretend they are a different gender.

Under this policy, a boy can use the girls’ restroom and locker room in the public schools.

“As a practice, transgender students are not forced to use the restroom corresponding to their biological sex,” Tracy Pierce, chief of public relations, told Eye on Jacksonville.

“School principals are advised to meet with the student and the District’s Office of Equity and Inclusion to develop a plan that best meets the needs and privacy concerns of everyone involved.”

Official school edicts say students MUST:

“Be addressed by the name/gender pronoun with which they are comfortable. Some examples include: He/She; They/Them; or Ze/Zir. This list is not meant to be exhaustive.

“Be permitted to wear clothing that expresses their consistently asserted gender identity;

“Play on the sports team corresponding with their consistently asserted gender identity.”

The latter command is in keeping with the current fad that is making a mockery of women’s sports and destroying the dreams of many female athletes.

Pierce said the mixture of genders and bathrooms has posed no problems.

“We work proactively with all involved to develop plans that meet everyone’s needs, respecting everyone’s privacy concerns. We have yet to encounter a situation in which students and staff could not discuss and devise a workable plan for all students at a school to go to the bathroom in a comfortable environment.

“If a person of any gender entered a bathroom or locker room of any gender and behaved inappropriately, complaints of such behavior would certainly be investigated.”

But surrendering did not keep the beleaguered teacher, a Navy veteran and award-winning math teacher, out of hot water.

The PC Police have monitored his social media posts and have found them in violation of Politically Correct Rules and Regulations.

Even though he did not identify himself as a teacher, or disclose his connection to the school system, or make any reference to schools, and the school administration has no policy restricting what an employee can say on social media, his personal opinions were found by critics to be in violation of liberal norms.

Staunch defenders of the “right” (not found in the U.S. Constitution) to pretend to be either gender whenever you wish said the teacher must go and school officials have said the Office of Equity and Inclusion will conduct further inquiry.

This is all pursuant to federal government policies promulgated by the Obama administration, and by federal courts

In 2018, a federal judge ruled that St. Johns County schools had to allow a girl to use the boys’ bathroom, rather than a “gender neutral” bathroom, because it was required by a 1972 federal law.

The threat that hangs over the head of public school officials is that the feds will cut off funding if they don’t pretend to believe that boys are girls, and vice versa. However, the current administration has sought to return the decision-making to state and local governments and reduce the federal government’s heavy hand in the dispute.

Distress or discomfort about your sex is called gender dysphoria, which is a diagnosis listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, a manual published by the American Psychiatric Association to diagnose mental conditions.

A small, local liberal newspaper that appears to be conducting a crusade to get the teacher fired refers to him as transphobic, xenophobic and racist. In one story it openly solicited more criticism from people who call themselves “transgender.”

If a medical doctor has determined that someone is either male or female at birth, and if that person has the biological features of that gender, it should end the question of gender.

Imagination does not trump common sense, and science.
