Preserving accurate history isn’t easy

One local legislator is making an effort to block those who want to alter the city’s history.

State Rep. Dean Black has filed a bill intended to punish anyone seeking to destroy historical monuments in Jacksonville. This would include the mayor and other liberal Democrats who have vowed to obliterate accurate history.

Oddly, this comes at a time when local historian Alan Bliss is calling for a local history museum in Jacksonville. He notes that other Florida cities have such facilities to remember their history.

Another odd twist is that the leader of an effort to preserve the monuments is faulting Black for the timing of his legislation.

Blake Harper of the Unity Project said Black filed the bill too early, giving opponents too much time to rally and attack the measure.

Liberals with black skin are among the staunchest supporters of demolishing monuments such as the one in Springfield Park dedicated to the widows and children of men killed in the Civil War.

Democrat Party members such as Mayor Donna Deegan support them, trying to keep alive the fiction that their party is a champion of people with black skin.

Of course the clueless liberal media goes along.

In fact, black-skinned Americans have been devastated throughout history by the Democrat Party, which has stood for slavery, segregation and socialism.

Measures such as welfare and minimum wage laws have damaged black families for decades.

More recently, Democrats have vigorously opposed school choice, although it benefits children with black skin and is welcomed by their parents. But the Democrats have sided with the rich and powerful, and mostly white, teacher union bosses.

Harper’s plan is simple. Rather than distorting history by pretending the Confederacy did not exist, add to history by recognizing more achievements by black citizens after they were freed from slavery by Republicans.

The Civil War happened, to the nation’s regret, and women and children of both Union and Confederate soldiers suffered. Liberal Democrats are trying to rewrite the nation’s entire history with such slanderous and untruthful propaganda campaigns like the infamous 1619 Project.

Black’s bill may be timed badly and may even be unworkable as some claim. But at the least it shows some are willing to tell the truth about the past.

  1. First of all, it’s great for Thanksgiving to have the Eye on Jacksonville.
Secondly, to have a short-hand definition it’s called neo-Marxism. With a lowercase liberal is much different than the state of things right now. Weather it’s a Confederate monument or two genders only or traditional marriage or American first, etc., the Woke, the neo Marxist, the anti Western Civilization only care about one thing: Power. Everybody who thinks about compromise is not one of these people. I hope that Lloyd would get more specific and more updated about the problems that exist in America in 2023 going on 2024. But I am glad that the Eye is on the right side ( literally and figuratively).
