Matt Schellenberg driven to support Israeli families from October 7th massacre

Former City Council member, Matt Schellenberg, has always been involved in charitable and civic organizations and has served on numerous local community boards. He served as a city councilman for 8 years and is always looking for ways to give back to our community. Matt’s a giver.

So it is no surprise that Matt – as he told Eye — has been haunted by the heinous killing of innocent people in Israel. The fact that those terrorist took photos of their atrocities impacted him then and still haunts him today. So weeks ago, several of his friends and Matt donated money and supplies for humanitarian aid for Israel. Matt helped with stocking a plane load of supplies that were sent to the families of those who were affected by the horrible massacre.

But the haunting stayed with him and he’s still doing what he can to help.

Eye reached out to Matt to see how we could support his efforts and he told us… “Just get the word out. We need people to consider supporting those individuals who lost their family members and friends on October 7th.”

Rabbi Fisch of Etz Chaim Synagogue here in Jacksonville will be heading to Israel next week. Matt said the best way to help is to write a check to Etz Chaim Synagogue and put “Rabbis Charity Fund” in the memo of the check.

Matt will be happy to pick up a check from anyone who wants to help with this need. If you would like to participate, please contact Matt at (904) 868-6221 or via email at: [email protected].
