Libs fear the money faucet might be shut off

One of the first things the local Democrat media thought of after Donald Trump’s glorious victory over the Dark Side of the Force was how much money the city might not get in federal handouts.

They should worry. If Trump follows through, revenue sharing will be cut drastically, along with useless bureaucracies in the government that Americans managed to live with for about two centuries.

In his first term, Trump’s tax relief created a lot of jobs and wealth. But in this term, he needs to focus more on cutting spending.

The federal government’s monstrous $6.8 trillion budget is outlandish and cannot be justified by any measure.

The Founding Fathers certainly would be appalled. They never envisioned a Leviathan in Washington, D.C.

It was Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal that seized upon an economic downturn to grow the government and make the downturn worse.

The local media’s concern is that Mayor Donna Deegan’s administration might see a cutback in federal handouts.

Oh, the humanity.

Having gotten more than $350 million in recent years just from one program alone, it is about time Jacksonville, and all other cities, got out of the trough.

There’s nothing free about free money from Washington, or Tallahassee. Jacksonville sends money to the state and federal governments, and it gets some back – after it is filtered through and diminished by the huge, ravenous bureaucracies.

The federal government needs a good trimming. As Ronald Reagan said, its problem is not a lack of revenue, it is an excess of spending.

During Reagan’s time the government established the Grace Commission. It went over the federal budget and found $424 billion in waste that could be eliminated in a three-year period.. That seems like pocket change now but it was a good chunk of money at the time.

The report said that one-third of all income taxes are consumed by waste and inefficiency in the federal government, and another one-third escaped collection because of the underground economy.

The commission’s recommendations were ignored.

Both parties in Washington, except for a handful of responsible people, are addicted to spending Other People’s Money. If Trump does something about it, as he promised, his legacy will be assured.
