Recently, a new magazine article caught my attention with its alarming image below. The article shed light on the fact that the city has been consistently ranked among the top cities in the country for its high crime rate.

We knew crime was bad here and this image shook us to our core. It isn’t fun reading articles that paint such a terrible picture of your hometown.

Several other articles have also reported on the high crime rates in the city, including a report that stated only one of Florida’s major cities made it to the top 25 for its murder rate, and another that listed Jacksonville among the cities with the biggest homicide rate problems.

One common thread that runs through these reports is the fact that many of the cities with rising crime rates are democrat-controlled. However, this is not the case for Jacksonville. While the city has been under Republican control, the fact remains that crime rates have continued to rise.

Lenny Curry has shown incompetence in keeping us safe and this rising crime rate falls squarely in his lap. The day he walks out of the Mayor’s office will be a great day for Jacksonville.

The safety and security of citizens should be a top priority for any city. Jacksonville must take proactive measures to combat the high crime rate and create a safer environment for its residents. Our children deserve to grow up in a better and safer environment.
