As in many cities across the nation, a vigil was held in Jacksonville for Charlie Kirk, who was killed last week in Utah while making an appearance.
“We wanted to put on as soon as possible. We loved Charlie and wanted an opportunity to pray and get together and begin to recover,” City Council Member Rory diamond said.
The event was held in Jarboe Park, Neptune Beach, Sunday. More than 300 people attended.
Diamond served as master of ceremonies. Pastor Gerry woodham gave the prayer and invocation. Singer Katie-o sang “Amazing Grace” and “God Bless America.” Republican Party Chairman Scooter Barr and John Scott, president of the local Young Republicans, also spoke at the event.
There was a substantial police presence on hand to help keep everyone safe.
Nevertheless, the kooks were about. One liberal took recordings of the event, then went on Tik-Tok making the ridiculous claim that conservatives were doing terrible things, or something.
While conservative were holding vigils and praying, liberals across the country were celebrating the death of an American who sought to bring Americans together, showing once again the difference between rational and irrational.
