Opportunity to be patriotic: Lay down a wreath for those who laid down their lives

Wreaths Across America is an organization that honors the fallen who have served our country and given their lives for our freedoms.

Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, their mission is to Remember, Honor and Teach others about the ultimate sacrifice and they coordinate wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 1,600 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad.

Jacksonville is one of their additional locations and we are pleased to help them by getting the word out about this precious event.

Volunteers with “Wreaths Across America,” hope to lay holiday wreaths at 12,000 gravestones at Jacksonville National Cemetery, and presently they are 3,000 wreaths short. Their goal is to have the wreaths ready by Dec. 14. That’s when family members will lay wreaths on the gravesites. A special ceremony is taking place afterward.

The cost is minimal and the rewards are huge. To learn more and to make a donation or purchase a wreath — go to: https://wreathsacrossamerica.org/
