Bad ideas never stand up to scrutiny

Another left-wing commentary appeared recently in the local media, delving into the imaginary horrors of a practice that does not exist and probably never did.

This lib fantasy supposes that many people with black skin were prevented from owning a home years ago because racist bankers would “redline” neighborhoods where those people lived and deny them loans.

Naturally, according to Far Left ideology, we must pay people with black skin who are living today reparations – another lib fantasy – for this outrageous behavior decades ago.

Just a few problems.

First, you would have to disbelieve yet another lib fantasy, which is that greedy capitalists would do anything to put a buck in their pocket.

If that is true, why would they refuse to make loans to people who would repay the loan with interest? Money is green, not black or white.

Logically, it just falls apart.

There are maps purporting to show the neighborhoods that had a lot of high-risk borrowers, and some indeed were neighborhoods with a lot of black-skinned residents – primarily because Democrats kept them segregated.

But there were neighborhoods with white-skinned residents also. The maps show red lines around part of Ortega – one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in Jacksonville and until recent years having only residents with white skin.

It’s all nonsense, as is the idea that taxpayers now should provide free housing for people with black skin.

What taxpayers should do is give vouchers to all families so they can choose the school, public or private, that best fits their needs. This will free children with black skin from failing government schools where they are being denied an education.

Then, colleges and businesses should accept and hire people based on merit instead of skin color. The Rev. Martin Luther King hoped for such an outcome, but Democrats have prevented it and continue to focus on skin color 55 years after King’s death, for political advantage.

People with an education and job who pay their bills always will be able to get a loan and people living today owe no debts to dead people. If any reparations were paid, they should be paid by the Democrat Party to atone for its support of slavery and segregation.
