Congratulations on your historic achievement as the first woman to be elected as the mayor of Jacksonville. This is a significant milestone not just for you personally but for the city as a whole.
It’s been a rough 8 years with the JEA scandal, lack of transparency in the Mayor’s office, cronyism tactics, and the raising of our taxes plus the tearing down of monuments in the dead of night. We are ready for new leadership.
We also understand that some individuals may have concerns about your political leanings, but we remain prayerful that you will make decisions that benefit all the citizens of Duval County. You are a woman of faith and we ask that you lean into that faith, seek wise counsel and put the best people around you to get the job done. You are off to a great start with those you have selected so far from both sides of the aisle so – a big Wink to you for that!
As you embark on this journey, we encourage you to prioritize transparency and integrity in every aspect of your administration. It is crucial to restore faith in our local government and eradicate the corruption and cronyism that has plagued us in the past.
We believe that a strong sense of community is vital for the progress of our city. We encourage you to foster a culture of collaboration, where neighbors come together to resolve issues, from fixing potholes, cleaning up city streets, keeping out neighborhoods safe, and to actively listening to the people while negotiating the new Jaguar stadium.
As you take office, we urge you to be mindful of responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars. The burden of high taxes and subpar city services has worn us out. We long for a city where our hard-earned money is used wisely and efficiently. We implore you not to burden us further with additional tax increases.
Please know that we are rooting for you and your success. We hope that the next four years will serve as a pleasant surprise to those who doubt your ability to govern our city effectively. With your leadership, we have faith in the potential for positive change and a brighter future for Jacksonville.
