A few months ago, I had a conversation with someone in the top leadership of our state government. We were talking about the situation with the Jaguars in London and how they kneeled for our National Anthem on foreign soil. This person could not understand why the Jaguar owner would do that. It made no sense.
After our conversation, I went to the NFL website and looked around to see if they had published their Strategic Plan. I found it.
And there it was… #2 Strategy: Build the international market. See more here: NFL Strategic Plan
Today breaking news came from across the pond: Shad Khan to buy Wembley Stadium. Check it out for yourself: Shad Khan Big Purchase
Keep an EYE on this breaking news. Shad Khan’s company’s Iguana has been awarded the redevelopment of the Shipyards property along the Downtown riverbank. There is talk about taking down an exit ramp from the Hart Bridge to accommodate the plans. There are also more plans to take Lot J for an entertainment district as well.
These are all big plans and we, the taxpayers, will certainly be involved in tax incentives, etc.
Because of this breaking news, we ask that the DIA, the City Council Members and anyone associated with working these deals with Iguana will create a TIGHT CONTRACT that will ensure the Jaguars stay put.
Otherwise, we may be looking at selling a stadium and I’m not sure there are too many buyers out there for stadiums.
We’ll keep our EYEs open for you. Jump in with anything you hear that might be of interest to the rest of us.
Go Jags (on the field – but not to London!)
